Code of ethics
Code of Ethics
DigItalia is an open-access, peer-reviewed scholarly journal. Contributions may be submitted by authors or proposed at the initiative of the Scientific Committee. All parties involved—Director, authors, editorial staff, committees, and reviewers—acknowledge and share the principles of the code of ethics set out below.
Duties of the Director, the Editorial Board, and the Scientific Committee
- The Director, the editorial staff, and the Scientific Committee evaluate articles submitted for publication solely on the basis of their content, without any discrimination based on gender, sexual orientation, origin, ethnicity, citizenship, religion, or political orientation of the authors.
- The decision to publish or not publish submitted articles rests with the Director together with the editorial staff and reviewers. In any case, the Director bears final responsibility for the decision to publish submitted articles.
- The Director and the Editorial Board undertake not to disclose any information about submitted articles to persons other than the reviewers prior to publication.
- The Director and the Editorial Board, as well as the Scientific Committee and anyone who, in any capacity, becomes aware of the content of submitted articles, undertake not to use such content in their own research prior to publication without the written consent of the authors.
Duties of Authors
- Authors are required to submit original works and must have declared in the text all sources used in their research.
- The article must not have been previously published; moreover, once it is under evaluation by the editorial board, it may not be submitted to other publishers.
- Authors must declare whether their contribution, or parts of it, has previously been presented in another form (conference paper, poster, etc.).
- Proper and clear responsibility for and attribution of the text (limited to those who have made a significant contribution to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the study) must always be specified. All those who have made a significant contribution must be listed as co-authors. At the time of submission, the corresponding author must ensure that all co-authors have seen and approved the final version.
- Authors are required to explicitly declare that there are no conflicts of interest that could have influenced the results of the research.
- When providing images to accompany the submitted text, authors must declare that they have complied with all regulations ensuring copyright for images and tables and, where necessary, that they have obtained the required permissions.
- Should authors identify significant errors or inaccuracies in the submitted text, they have a duty to promptly inform the Editor-in-Chief or the editorial board and to cooperate in retracting or correcting the manuscript.
Duties of Reviewers
- Manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents and must not be shown to or discussed with others outside the editorial process.
- Reviews must be completed within the agreed timeframe. If reviewers find themselves unable to fulfill their task within the established deadlines, they must promptly inform the editorial board and, if necessary, withdraw from the assignment.
- Reviews must be conducted with objectivity and impartiality. Evaluations, based exclusively on the scientific quality, methodology, and relevance of the contribution, must be expressed without personal criticism or offense toward the authors. Reviewers should express their opinions clearly and support them with documented arguments.
- Reviewers must decline the review if they find themselves in a position of conflict of interest with respect to the content of the manuscript submitted to them.
