Between 2016 and 2018, the British Library and the Bibliothèque nationale de France have engaged in a partnership which aimed to digitise, scientifically catalogue and showcase 800 medieval manuscripts produced between 8th and 12th centuries in England or France. In this article, we discuss the protocols used to give free online access to the corpus of selected MSS, and we share lessons learned thanks to this project. Not withstanding the enthusiasm for the goals achieved, one can consider, on the one hand, the opportunities and the difficulties of a short-term financed project on manuscript heritage, and, on the other, the challenges still open within an international context.Downloads
