Un patrimonio storico e artistico inedito e inesplorato: i manoscritti del Fondo Abruzzese Nicola Sorricchio
The project Edizione digitale dei Monumenti Adriani e degli Annali Acquaviviani, sponsored by AGID (Agenzia per l’Italia Digitale) and led by the Literature, Arts and Social Sciences Department of the University of Chieti aims at long-term preservation, study, enhancement and disclosure of the “Monumenti Adriani” and “Annali Acquaviviani”, a historical heritage of unpublished manuscripts written by Nicola Sorricchio between 1755 and 1785 which are preserved in a private library owned by Nicola Sorricchio’s heirs. These manuscripts tell the history of Atri and its surroundings in the timeframe between the Middle Age and the second half of the XVIII century, dominated by the deeds and the politics of the Acquaviva family in the Duchy of Atri. Today, a digital library containing digital copies of the original volumes has been created in order to preserve the content for future generations as well as to offer the opportunity for consultation to a broader public via the websites http://sorricchio.dilass.unich.it and Internet Culturale (Italian digital showcase). All data have been scanned, digitized and saved in the MAG format (the ICCU standard), and finally archived in the internal format required by the “FedoraCommons” software, whose content model has been properly configured in order to display textual manuscripts. This web-based system enables very complex content indexation in order to permit specific researches as well as the creation of notes to the text; these digitized documents and the results of the research will be displayed as well through the dedicated website of the project.
