Progetto Qloud Scuola is a non-profit project of digital and methodological innovation apllied to reading activities in schools. Born on the initiative of professionals from the world of librarianship, software design, data science and artificial intelligence, Progetto Qloud Scuola pursues its aims in an original way, relying on its own design and development skills in the field of open-source digital platforms oriented to the user experience. In order to cope with the material absence of platforms expressly dedicated to the management of school libraries in our Country, the non-profit organization started designing and developing “Qloud Scuola” on its own, reaching its first free release in 2019. Since then, the platform spread first to all regions and then to all provinces, going well beyond the initial forecast of its designers, consequently determining an enormous need for training for thousands of teachers. Thus, pursuing the goal of full sustainability for schools while operating for free, Progetto Qloud Scuola articulated a complete training course in which, in addition to the derivative cataloguing and loan automation procedures, teachers can find full methodological support to build from scratch and re-design a school library, compliant with the most advanced library and pedagogical standards, and with the international guidelines for school libraries.
