The essay suggests interpreting digitisation not as exclusive copy: the vicarious function of the (analogical) monumental document. Rather, it proposes the concept of the digital as a ‘re-opening’ and a ‘process’. Therefore, the essay will illustrate some examples of source re-use through the use of Data Visualization and Artificial Intelligence. With Data Visualization it is possible to narrate a phenomenon, providing an immediate overview while preserving the singularity of the data. Artificial Intelligence can organise existing information, but it can also generate new data.
