Tecnologie GIS nell’ambito dei beni culturali ecclesiastici
The National Office for Ecclesiastical Cultural Heritage and Worship Buildings, part of the CEI, has launched a project to map the boundaries of Italian dioceses, crucial for several initiatives, such as the Church Census and Scheduled Maintenance of buildings. Geographic Information Systems (GIS) offer an intuitive and immediate way to visualize information, allowing for the intersection of data from different sources and conducting detailed analyses. These Systems also allow for the addition of various informational layers on a map, facilitating data understanding and analysis. Furthermore, the utilization of information from the Gregorian Cadastre and the Church Census through GIS technologies provides new services to dioceses for managing ecclesiastical heritage, particularly for the analysis of the ecclesiastical heritage of the Diocese of Bologna.
