Ontolagoon: towards a digital ontology of fishing lexicon in the venetian lagoon
The article presents the development of Ontolagoon, a knowledge graph dedicated to the fishing lexicon of the Venetian lagoon, originating from a doctoral project focused on the linguistic description of the dialects of Pellestrina. This tool addresses the challenge of linguistic preservation in the face of increasing cultural standardization. The primary goal is to organize and make the linguistic and cultural heritage of local fishermen accessible, following the example of other poorly documented minority languages, such as Quechua. The article provides an overview of the importance of the fishing lexicon in linguistic studies and outlines the process of creating the knowledge graph, from building the lexical database to the strategies used for its implementation. The results achieved so far are highlighted, along with the fundamental role of digital humanities in preserving cultural heritage, emphasizing how new technologies can be key tools for the future of the humanities.
