I-Tal-Ya books: il censimento digitale dei libri ebraici d’Italia. Un progetto di cooperazione dell’Unione delle comunità ebraiche italiane, della Biblioteca nazionale centrale di Roma e della Biblioteca nazionale di Israele

The project recently called I-Tal-Ya books, started in 2018, carried out by theUnion of Italian Jewish Communities (UCEI) as leader, with the partnership of the National Central Library of Rome and the National Library of Israel (NLI) ispresented. The Rothschild Foundation Hanadiv Europe (RFHE) provided financial support.The goal is to create a census, in a bilingual database, of all the volumes in Italian libraries, from the origins of the Jewish press up to 1960, using the NLIcatalog for the Hebrew transcription and the Worldcat website of the Library of Congress for transliteration into Latin characters. In addition to the bibliographic data, there are also those of the items (marginalia, censorships, notes of ownership, valuable bindings) and the location. The volumes are also digitized in the main and most significant pages. All information is located in the digital repository of the National Central Library of Rome, suitably adapted. The entireproject is expected to include a total of 35,000 volumes from 14 Jewish communities and 25 state institutions.
