The complex relationship between the archives and the web must also take into account the extension of the latter, the Semantic Web, which requires cultural institutes to question the opportunity to use Linked Data for the representation of their datasets and the provision of their information assets online.
Among the different entities and different examples of use available at national level, here we will include an in-depth study on the use of Linked Open Data for the description of the photographic archives, which can certainly benefit greatly from joining the Semantic Web.
In particular, the text will focus on the case of Intesa Sanpaolo Publifoto Archive, describing the methods of LOD publication of the catalogue and the choices made.
