Abstract

The article describes the Erasmus+ project ADELE (Advancing Digital Empowerment for Libraries in Europe), aimed at designing and testing a tool for the self-assessment of digital skills and strategies in public libraries. The tool is inspired by a similar one, the SELFIE tool, the result of another project funded by the European Commission to evaluate and assess where schools stand with learning in the digital age. The contribution describes in detail the objectives of the ADELE project and the activities carried out in the first year of work as well as the potential and expendability of this important tool, which can also be used by other types of libraries thanks to its possible customisation. The ADELE tool will express its full strength in the long term because it is its constant use that will allow the library to be monitored and guide its improvement in the digital world.
