Abstract

The contribution aims to present DanteMatrix, a website dedicated to the research of stemmatic affinities in the codices of Dante’s Commedia, that is part of the broader work for the critical edition undertaken by the Ferrara Group. The software, developed by Luigi Tessarolo, organizes all the data collected into a database, relating to the collations on a canon of over 600 critical loci from approximately 600 manuscripts of Dante’s Commedia. It enables the tracing of genealogical affinities among the witnesses under examination. All data are searchable and queryable by textual locus and manuscript, facilitating in-depth research and comparative analysis. In addition, based on the results obtained, it is possible to create subarchetypes, generate lists of their common innovations and agreements in reference lessons, and to conduct further investigations, treating the subarchetype as any other witness.
