The paper describes the European project ARIADNEplus, continuation of the previous ARIADNE project. This new project, as the previous one, has the objective of overcoming the fragmentation of European archaeological digital archives available online by creating a catalogue. Compared to the previous project, ARIADNEplus significantly extends the geographic, thematic and temporal coverage. Data are provided by authoritative national institutions that guarantee their quality. The catalogue allows searching the metadata, which comply with international standards, according to various criteria, and then directly access the data at the data owner’s repository. The retrieved data may then be further processed availing of various software tools also provided in the system. All the computing tools provided rely on the most recent IT technology. A substantial part of the project resources addresses users’ training both on the use of the ARIADNEplus system and, in general, on the application in the archaeological domain of EU policies and strategies concerning open science.
