Abstract

The revolution brought about by the connection via the web has led to the birth of collaborative processes between users, leading to the creation of real digital communities capable of implementing planning based on sharing, optimizing resources and promoting active involvement starting from the bottom up. Similar process is also found in public archaeology, involving the public in the research, conservation and dissemination of the archaeological heritage. Based on principles of accessibility, participation and information sharing, it includes different actors, including archaeologists, cultural institutions and volunteers. One of the key principles is the sharing of archaeological data across online platforms, enabling researchers and the public to access and use information for further research projects. However, in Italy, the adoption of this philosophy is growing but limited by the lack of collaborative projects and open archaeological data, often due to legislation that does not fully support open culture.
